Your Travel Pal Newsletter, delivered monthly
Happy February! Travel season is warming up, unlike the weather. Between March Madness tipping off, families planning spring Disney trips, and smart travelers thinking ahead about protecting their plans, there’s a lot to cover this month.
In this newsletter, we’re diving into how to travel for March Madness without breaking the bank, tips for making the most of a Disney vacation (whether it’s your first trip or your fifteenth), and why travel insurance is one of those things you hope you never need—but are really glad you have. Whether you’re chasing buzzer-beaters, castle fireworks, or peace of mind, I’ve got you covered.
Let’s get into it ✈️🏀🏰
The craziest time in college sports is almost upon us: brackets, buzzer beaters, and Cinderella runs. The 2026 men's and women’s NCAA tournaments, fondly known as March Madness, are around the corner, and I want to take a moment to remind you that if you’re traveling to catch any of the games in person, I can help.
Over 700,000 people attended NCAA tournament games in 2025. The men's tournament spans 8 cities for early rounds, 4 for regionals, and lands in Indianapolis for the Final Four (April 4-6). The women's tournament runs Fort Worth and Sacramento for regionals, with Phoenix hosting the Final Four for the first time (April 3-5).
That's not a lot of hotel inventory spread across a very compressed timeline. Urgency is real, not manufactured. When 700,000+ people are targeting the same 6-10 hotel clusters in host cities, "book now" isn't a sales tactic—it's logistics. Inventory is finite. Demand is measurable. The math is simple.
Selection Sunday (Men’s): March 15, 2026
Selection Sunday (Women’s): March 16, 2026
Men’s Final Four: April 4 & 6, 2026, Indianapolis

Sweet 16 (regional semifinals) and Elite Eight (regional finals): March 26-29
This year’s Final Four heads to Indianapolis, Indiana, a city deeply rooted in basketball tradition. The games will tip off at Lucas Oil Stadium, which last hosted in 2021.

Disney destinations deliver worlds where storytelling and hospitality combine to create magical experiences for all ages. At Disneyland in California, you’ll find classic attractions alongside newer lands like Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, all within walkable park grounds. Walt Disney World in Florida expands that scale, with six parks, themed resorts, and a staggering range of dining, entertainment, and character experiences. Disney Cruise Line takes to the sea, with itineraries featuring Broadway-caliber shows, themed dining, and exclusive island excursions.
Families, couples, and groups can expect meticulously curated experiences that
balance adventure, relaxation, and unforgettable memories. Learn where to stay, what to do, and how to plan the ultimate Disney getaway.
Disneyland: Los Angeles (LAX) is the biggest gateway, with nonstop flights worldwide. For closer access, Orange County (SNA) provides convenient connections to cities across the United States.
Walt Disney World: Orlando International Airport (MCO) is the primary gateway, with direct flights across North America, Europe, and South America. This is also most convenient for Disney Cruise Line departures from Port Canaveral.
Disneyland: Easy access via shuttles, rideshares, and private cars with large paid parking structures. The two parks are conveniently adjacent and easily walkable.
Disney Cruise Line: Seamless round-trip ground transportation is available between local airports and the cruise ship’s embarkation port.
Walt Disney World: Use Disney shuttles, private cars, or rideshares. Many Disney hotels offer buses, monorails, and boats that connect to parks. Paid lots at each park include trams or short walks to entrances, but resort transport often saves time.
For lighter crowds and more manageable wait times, plan a visit in January or September. Keep an eye on school schedules as summer, spring break, and holiday periods are the busiest. Weekends are also especially crowded at Disneyland due to local visitors.
Spend three to four days at Disneyland to experience both parks and Downtown Disney. For Walt Disney World, plan a full week to explore all four parks, water parks, and resort amenities without feeling rushed.
Comfortable, breathable clothing and supportive shoes are essential for long park days. Pack layers for changing weather and a light jacket for evening hours. Sun protection—hats, sunglasses, and sunscreen—is a must. Casual attire is fine for most dining, though some table-service or signature restaurants may have dress guidelines.
Disney resorts: Staying on-property provides added benefits like extended park hours, Lightning Lane access, transportation between parks, on-site parking, and more.
Tickets: Park reservations are not required for date-based tickets, but may be required for other types. Park Hopper tickets give flexibility to visit multiple parks in a day.
Lightning Lane: Paid skip-the-line systems exist; planning which rides to use them on is critical for minimizing wait times.
Mobile app: Use the free Disney Genie planning tool for personalized itineraries, dining reservations, show schedules, and a virtual queue for popular rides.
Single rider lines: Many popular rides have single rider options to skip long queues.
Parade and fireworks viewing: Scope out a spot early, and look for ‘secret’ spots for excellent views without crowds, often near less-traveled areas.
Character experiences: Disneyland has more character experiences than Disney World parks. Marvel characters can only be found at Disneyland, not Disney World.
